Remnant

Remnant

This artwork was made initially for the Goulburn Art Award 2020 and is made from numerous handmade embroideries, once used to hold mementos and pieces of fine china. Now they have been cutup and pierced together into this small cot size quilt. Like the numerous habitats that have been cut up since colonisation for farming, urbanisation, industry and transportation corridors. They have lost their original fullness and now sit alongside other elements of human occupation. Embroidery from the hand of the artist, the words – R E M N A N T, part left after greater part is used, removed, destroyed, and small embroideries of the , Keyacris scurra (Key’s Matchstick Grasshopper) which has lost much of its original habitat
